IN THE MOOD FOR CLARITY

I like this article “Even out your skin tone in 60 seconds”. Click here to read it Coveteur article. Summary: exercise, use sunscreen, exfoliate, use serum & color-correcting makeup primer.

I would add that face oil instantly changes the appearance of skin. Physicians Formula Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil is $15 and available at any drugstore. Another pricier one is Sunday Riley’s Artemis Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil ($75). Clarins Santal and Blue Orchid are lovely ($57), and I’ve read that these two may be worth trying – Juara Radiance Vitality Oil ($65), Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula (high in anti-oxidants and omegas) ($72). All available at Sephora. For goop’s picks of the best clean face oils click here goop article.

Occasional use of ROC creams with retinol as well as professional facial peels are effective when needed. Fish oil nutrients, extra drinking water, avoiding clay masks/glycolics or products you think could aggravate skin may help. Some nights take a break from skincare to enable the natural repair process.

A Korean trend now is the rubber mask. One editor raves that this product gives her an amazing glow Gold Premium Modeling Mask and another less pricey one is this Lindsay Modeling Rubber Mask Sets. For information about them click here Allure Feature Korean Masks.

If you need to fake it click here for these videos from fabulous Lisa Eldridge: dry skin foundations &  blemish coverage makeup tutorial. What a huge difference makeup makes.

Ok. I need more direction. Is facial oil something you apply in the a.m.? Or only at bedtime? Also, I want to learn more about color-correcting make-up primer! Do you use it and, if so, what does it do/how does it work??

Facial oil may be applied anytime. I used it this morning before going to the gym and may even apply more later in the day. A friend literally stopped a complete stranger to ask her what she uses on her face because she had such a gorgeous dewy like natural glow (and was around the age of 40). It was one of the products I mention in my post, Sunday Riley’s Artemis. This one has a strong fragrance and a very high price point, so I tried to include other options in my post like the Physician’s Formula which you can get at any drugstore. Try it out and please let us all know your thoughts. I pour a few drops in the palm of my hand rub my hands together so the heat breaks it down a bit then gently pat it all over my face and neck. It may seem a bit shiny at first but once it gets absorbed it is less noticeable. Again, you may have different aesthetics from another, so you’ve got to experiment and see how much delivers the look you like. I can’t believe more people don’t use facial oil. I love the effect. If you read my “About Vivienne” you know that I am a true minimalist. So I only use primers when I need them (if I am going to an event and want my makeup to last all day or night). I like a primer for the eye area to ensure my eye makeup remains intact for event photos but have not needed a color correcting one because a regular primer plus foundation then shadow is plenty of product for me. What is your specific skin concern that is leading you to explore a color correcting makeup primer? At the end of this post, click on and watch the “Blemish Coverage Makeup Tutorial” video. It is really good and by the talented, lovely Lisa Eldridge.
