IN THE MOOD FOR CLEANSING

After using facial cleansing wipes and ending up at the eye doctor due to an allergic reaction from an ingredient in them, I will never use wipes again. For another shared experience click here.  I Ditched My Fancy Makeup Cleanser For Wipes, And This Is What Happened.

Here are 5 great wipe alternative cleanser options: Clinique Rinse-Off Mousse Foaming Facial Cleanser ($20), Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser ($18), Cetaphil ($10), Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Oil ($16) which is new because oil cleansers are very in right now, and my daughter loves this brand (its cleanser has no parabens, sulfates, phthalates)First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser ($29).

I had a roomate whose face was a vision of loveliness and she used old fashioned Noxzema which I think works well does not dry out skin it has great slip so there is no tugging for sensitive skin and has a fragrance that really wakes me up, a plus for mornings ($5).

This is very popular and similar to The Makeup Eraser ($20), Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser ($25). Here is more detailed information from the Makeup Eraser’s website: “The Make Up Eraser is made from a specially knitted polyester/silk fibre which is many times finer than human hair, when wet the eraser creates a hydro-mechanical process that breaks the surface tension of the oils that bond make up to the skin, MakeUp Eraser even removes waterproof and smearproof mascara, HD makeup and lipstick.”

If you want to grab and go at a drugstore for just eye makeup removal I’ve been using this for years Maybelline 100% Oil Free Expert Eyes Makeup Remover ($5, $4 for the CVS version – usually placed in store very low below Maybelline eye makeup).

If you like wipes these get excellent reviews Pond’s Original Fresh Wet Cleansing Towelettes ($15). RMS just launched one with just one ingredient organic coconut oil ($16 for 20 pack) click HERE.

I’d love to learn more about facial cleansing oils! They’re all over the place – but seem so counter intuitive. I need a gentle, non-drying formula but don’t want/need my skin to be greasy. Also, nothing that’s pore-clogging. What are your recos??

Yes this is a popular new trend right now but is based on elementary science which is that oil cuts oil. Click here for a great short article with product recommendations and a deeper explanation by doctors of how they work http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/09/01/what-is-cleansing-oil_n_6158450.html. Today is my shopping day and cleansing oils are on my list so I’ll let you know which ones I like best. However, my skin type and aesthetic requirements may be different from yours which could affect a difference in opinion. When reading Sephora, Amazon etc. product reviews keep this in mind. My advice is always to try something new in 2s, a low/mid price point option and a mid/high price point option. To be continued. Thanks for the great comment.
