A friend just mentioned that she saw Kelly Ripa in a dark green sequin pencil skirt, black turtleneck, stiletto pumps. Easy enough right? Maybe I’ll try it. I’ve been seeking a KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) New Year’s Soirée party outfit and just poured through so much content about holiday party outfit recommendations my head is spinning. Sadly not a single idea is a memorable standout. I ordered and returned several possibilities, including the previous post red dress, which looked nothing at all on me as it did on the 20 year old model. She clearly was wearing a different dress. Lol.
Here are some black sequin pencil skirts, because I decided red or green is too cliché. Vince Camuto, Aqua, H&M. Silver is also great as pictured above on Kelly from last year. She is consistent! Try Jcrew (only size 8 left), Alice and Olivia, Asos, Reiss, five13studio.
When my friend mentioned 46 year old Kelly to me I was looking at a photo of Carine Roitfeld, who is still going strong with her take it or leave it approach to dressing at 62 that is sexy but not too much, edgy but not overdone. As former Editor In Chief of French Vogue, she still conveys serious attitude with her style. Carine’s Uniqlo collection looks really good. I’ve summarized her approach below in 4 bullets. Carine is just as consistent and KISS worthy as Kelly.
Around the same time I stumbled upon a photograph of the 68 year old model Maye Musk (yes she is Elon Musk’s mother, he is the Tesla founder). Not as edgy as Carine nor as preppy as Kelly, she is a classic beauty with great style. Her approach: feminine, sleek, elegant. Check out this picture above of her. She looks great in her on trend strappy black shoes and midi skirt, simple black top, fur scarf. If that isn’t KISS-able, then I don’t know what is.
