IN THE MOOD FOR PREP

Adding some edge has kept me from feeling my age, but I am a prep at heart and still love my classics. Vineyard Vines, J.MacLaughlin, LLBean, Lilly Pulitzer, Jack Rogers are go tos. A new one is Sail to Sable. For their above pictured cute red fit and flare dress click HERE.

Also, an online prep store that I love is Tuckernuck. New forĀ Spring: Jane straw clam and Mia clutches, Tortoise and Horn link necklaces, Striped bass needlepoint hat, Pom Pom basket and Pink Ibiza totes, jigsaw flats that look just like Chloe ballet slippers. Click here to browse atĀ Tnuck.

My friend and I were talking about her upcoming summer in Nantucket and while I was admitting that I’ve never liked tunics (aka the shapeless box), this is what she said – “I used to find preppy a safe style, reassuring. Though I was never that preppy. More classic.”

I read at Net-a-porter that loafers are back (not that they ever really go out of style if you ask me). My daughter will frown every time I wear mine because this is a look she isn’t fond of but I find them comfortable. For my daughter, I will refrain from wearing them with my Cape Madras Bermuda shorts which she can’t stand and have been unworn for a while because I am trying to break away from my preppy, classic comfort zone. But I just can’t seem to get rid of them. I haven’t fully moved on. Old habits are hard to change. You can take the girl out of prep but you can’t take the prep out of the girl.

For preppy makeup looks, there are no rules. (No body glitter) (No black lipstick or nail polish)

Have a great (maybe preppy?) weekend everyone!

PS – Do you remember the Preppy Handbook?!
