IN THE MOOD FOR #SNEAKERGOALS (ADIDAS OR NOTHING)

The Soho Adidas store still has a good inventory of Stan Smiths and Superstars. Circa 1971 and 1969 respectively. My daughter and I were also surprisingly impressed with their athletic wear for women. They had some great tops, shorts, leggings and all reasonably priced. Adidas has become very popular again. The brand was literally all over the streets of downtown Manhattan this weekend and on all ages. Size down, the sneakers run large. ...

IN THE MOOD FOR WORKOUT MUSIC (PITBULL & ENRIQUE)

I met someone who knew Pitbull before his glory days and he said that the music Pitbull produces now is pretty much the same as his music when he started. There is so much talent in NY and LA. Regardless of your feeling about Pitbull as a musician, how refreshing is it to hear that an artist has supposedly remained true to himself and his vision, despite the struggles and time it takes for many to achieve success. This is an observation that I think can relate to many not just musicians. As I was driving home I heard Pitbull's new song "Messin' Around" with Enrique Iglesias. I will definitely add this to my workout playlist. It's a fun song....

IN THE MOOD FOR #YOUBEYOU Vol. 2

I may never shop for clothing online again until there is virtual fitting technology. I'm exhausted from all of my trips to the post office and UPS making returns of items that looked great online but not so much on me. Here's the tipping point. WhoWhatWear just published a post "Your Next Great Outfit Is In This Slideshow". I was hoping I would discover a great new find. The jacket in the photo above was featured and it looked worth trying. I had rocker chic on my mind after seeing the photo of Cobain (in my previous post). This is the sort of jacket we should have right now, according to WhoWhatWear. (insert sarcasm emoji here) When it...

IN THE MOOD FOR #YOUBEYOU

Vogue March 2016 image Why do I like this photo of Frances Bean Cobain so much? I would never wear a transparent top or ripped jean and never wore the rocker or gothic style trends. I keep returning to the photo. Maybe because it is so authentic. She looks as if she spent zero time thinking about how she looks and yet I am drawn in, likely because of her I don't care what you think I will just be myself attitude. I guess it isn't the fashion that I like so much but it is her projected powerful self confidence. It is a great reminder. Forget fashion trends for a moment. Be comfortable. Be yourself. #youbeyou...

IN THE MOOD TO SIMPLIFY

Harper's Bazaar April Issue, Vivien Solari modeling 3.1 Phillip Lim top & denim, jewelry We're all so busy. We have better things to do with our time than to plan outfits or labor over what to wear. When it is warm out we want to get up and go. That's why I love Vivien's look in Harper's Bazaar. The 70'S vibe rib knit and jean are casual yet chic. Everyone likely has a sleeveless fitted top and flattering jean in their closet. Glowing skin (via oil, highlighters, bronzers and nude makeup) is beyond pretty and quick to execute. No fuss neat pulled back hair is also easily copied and effortless. Delicate layered jewelry modernize the throwback. Great...

IN THE MOOD FOR MOTHER’S DAY

Order by April 21st! Mother's Day is coming up and I really like that you may write a personal note inside this Parker Thatch bag. Besides being cute, that really makes it unique. It is available in many fun styles, colors, and three sizes (everyday, shopping, beach or travel). A PT example of a possible inscription is this, "you are the finest, loveliest, tenderest, most beautiful person I've ever known and even that is an understatement. I adore you." Off the top of my head here are some other suggestions for inside inscription: words that describe what make your mom special or something specific that she did for you growing up for which you are grateful, a family tree,...

IN THE MOOD FOR GIRL POWER (& SMART PERSONAL FINANCE)

If you haven't heard, Sallie Krawcheck has launched her new online site for women about finance. It is called Ellevest. To read The Top 10 Financial Mistakes Women Make click HERE. While some of the articles may seem basic particularly if you have solid finance knowledge, this is a terrific resource most importantly for our daughters who may not yet know a lot about the importance and approaches to personal finance. Being knowledgeable (and smart) is always beautiful and in fashion. en.Vogue.fr image...

IN THE MOOD FOR KENDALL (GLOW IN THE DARK?) EYES

The Jenner gals are building their empires. I guess the Estee Lauder execs um I mean Kendall (an Estee Lauder model) got jealous of Kylie's Lip Kit success because Kendall launched her own makeup product, an eyeshadow palette with glow in the dark shades, in collaboration with Estee Lauder. After a month it is still available, unlike Kylie's lip kits which sell out as soon as they get restocked. Today is another restock btw. Eye palette available HERE. 33 reviews on Sephora give it 3 stars out of 5. Shefinds image...

IN THE MOOD TO BELT IT OUT (TO SIA’S CHANDELIER)

I just picked up my daughter and her 2 friends. While driving the song Chandelier came on the radio. I like to listen to my music very loud. They didn't mind. I asked them to sing - knowing that they really enjoy singing. They hesitated and said that they aren't sopranos. I said just belt it out. They did and they hit the high notes. It made me think. How much do we let fear stand in our way? A lot. I'm not talking about the big things in life, but the small joyful moments - like this one. I also thought, are we sending mixed signals to our kids by instilling the fear of wrath if they do something...
